Astrolabe Clock is an astronomical clock inspired by the astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument used to tell time and to predict the location of the Sun, stars and planets. This modern interpretation gives a view of the sky showing at a glance the time of day, day of year, and the location in the sky of the Sun, Moon, planets and stars. Astrolabe Clock also gives the time of sunrise and sunset, the phase of the Moon, transit times for the Sun, Moon, planets and stars, and can be used to show the occurrence of solar and lunar eclipses.

Pros and cons of Astrolabe Clock app for iPhone and iPad

Astrolabe Clock app good for

For the amount of detail and useful information I would rate this app fairly high. Better than many $ apps on astronomy.
Packs an amazing amount of sky data into a straight forward interface - two millennia of development never fails to deliver
If you want to see how the sky above us works, where things are, and when eclipses will happen, this app shows you. Faithfully reproducing the ancient Astrolabe it shows you the heavens in a way that makes everything make sense. Get this and enjoy the sky with a new understanding! I have had several versions of this wonderful program and this newest version gives you many excellent features. This is one well thought out and executed app!

Some bad moments

Simple interface but a comprehensive tool. Probably one of the best free apps out there.
still using my iPhone 3G which renders most astronomy programs so slow. But this app works great. How generous is this developer to make this a free app without ads! I am very grateful to him. This is a must app. Very beautiful on my iPad2 as well.
Shortly after getting this app, I requsted the addition of the three twilight lines. Not only did Michael very quickly come out with an update which includes the lines, but he also did one better by showing the "twilight zones" in three shades of gray! Thanks Michael!!!
Insanely great app. Ive taken to displaying it instead of family pix when Im not using the iPad.
An outstanding app that displays a remarkable amount of useful info in a compact and attractive format. An excellent astronomical ephemeris for the iPad.
Great little app packing an amazing amount of info into a very neat and simple interface.
